Screen-free Answering Machine is made by BirdBear Labs, LLC ("we" and "us"). This is what we hold about you, why, and what we never do with it.
What we hold
- If you own the Yoto account: a Yoto identifier and the sign-in tokens Yoto gives us, so we can write to your library on your behalf, and the email address on your Yoto account, so we can tell you about your subscription. Not your Yoto password — we never see it.
- If you were invited: your email address, so you can sign in, and the name the person who invited you gave you.
- For everyone: the name you choose to be called, your time zone, and a record of which messages you recorded and when.
Where the recordings are
In the Yoto library of the person who owns the account, handled under Yoto's privacy policy. We keep a reference to each recording so we know which slot it sits in; we do not keep a second copy of the audio.
What we never do
- Sell or share your details with anyone, for any reason.
- Show anyone's email address to anyone but the person who invited them.
- Use recordings for anything other than putting them on the tape you chose.
- Delete a tape or a message unless its owner asks.
Payments
Card details go to Paddle, our payment provider, and never to us. When you subscribe we give Paddle your email address, for your receipts. We hold only what Paddle tells us about the state of a subscription.
To show prices in your currency, our front page asks Paddle for local prices using your IP address. We keep that answer in memory for a few minutes so the page stays quick, and never store your address.
Keeping it working
We count what happens in the app — a message recorded and how long it is, a tape made, an invitation sent — and which of our pages are read. These counts stay in our own database. We use no outside analytics, no advertising trackers and no cookies for counting.
Counts of visits to our public pages carry no name, address or anything that links one visit to another, and we delete them after 13 months. If you would rather not be counted at all, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser (some browsers have it on already): we then count nothing about your visit.
When something breaks, an error report goes to Sentry, a service that helps us find crashes and bugs so we can fix them. It is about the fault, not about you: before a report leaves us we remove anything that identifies you — your email address, names, tape and message titles, your IP address and your account.
Leaving
An invited person can leave a tape at any time from the tape's screen. An account owner can delete a tape, which removes it from their Yoto library too. Either way, ask and we will remove what we hold about you.
